Hare steps up fundraising
U.S. Rep. Phil Hare stepped up his fundraising in the 3rd quarter, according to new government filings.
Hare raised $176,083 between July 1 and Sept. 30, up from about $115,000 the previous quarter.
The two-term Democrat from Rock Island went into the last three months of the year with $642,878 in the bank. He reported spending $63,772 in the quarter.
Thursday was the deadline for congressional candidates to report 3rd quarter fundraising details to the Federal Election Commission.
Hare, who represents the 17th congressional district, holds a substantial lead over Republican challenger Bobby Schilling of East Moline. Schilling raised $10,475 between July 1 and Sept. 30, a bit less than the previous three months.
Schilling spent $11,752 for the three month period and ended the quarter with $10,963 in the bank.

UPDATE (3:15 p.m. Friday) U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley’s 3rd Quarter financial report came in after I blogged about Hare’s numbers.
You can find Braley’s report here. He raised $182,557 in the three month period and had $446,842 in the bank. Braley doesn’t have a declared opponent yet.
